Other than that, Oliver Perez, John Maine, and Mike Pelfrey have struggles, with Nelson Figueroa showing signs of a return to glory.Besides pitching, the Mets lineup hasvery little power and is otherwise a work in progress. Same goes for their four-man bullpen.Carlos Delgado hit yet anotherhome run which may symbolize an escape from his slump, but he still has a long way to go. Not to mention Aaron Heilman, who in one inning of work walked a batter and hit two straight batters to load the bases. Acatastrophic eighth inning by Duaner Sanchezsurrendered five runs and opened the game up with no chance of a comeback. To Mets fans, you and I have to hope that this situation gets better, and that the pitching holds up or else we'll have a season like last year. But to Diamondbacks fans, Godspeed. . The company, which is owned by Britain’s MWB Group Plc(MWB.L), said on Friday that sales at its flagship store inLondon’s West End shopping district virtually matched the 2007’srecord of 32 million pounds ($47 million). “We regard this as a very creditable performance in thecurrent adverse economic and retailing climate,” it said in astatement. The group’s sales rose to 50.2 million pounds aginst 45.8million pounds a year earlier, but its pretax loss widened to7.0 million pounds from 6.4 million pounds, reflecting higherinterest costs.

Liberty said it had large one-off costs in the year from thelaunch of an independent Liberty of London store and a newinternet sales platform. The firm said it appreciated that economic conditions werechallenging, but it was investing with the aim of recapturingits position as London’s destination for all that was avant-garde in the world of fashion. The Toronto Blue Jays’ pitching staff finally allowed a run in May, but the team is still undefeated this month.Jesse Litsch retired the first 12 batters he faced to improve to 4-1 and Vernon Wells paced a 12-hit attack with three singles, as the Blue Jays beat the Chicago White Sox 5-2 at Rogers Centre on Saturday afternoon. And finally, a Jays starter didn't need to pitch a shutout in order to win, although Litsch did take a bid for one into the seventh inning. With four victories already, Litsch is the leader on the Jays staff in that category, with every starter on the team capable of reaching double digits in wins as long as they stay healthy.Litsch moves ahead of Shaun Marcum and A.J.

Burnett, who each have three victories, for the team lead in wins. Not bad for the so-called fifth starter. The second-year right-hander allowed five hits and two runs, pitching into the eighth inning for the first time this year. Litsch surrendered two solo home runs (to Jermaine Dye and Carlos Quentin), but by that time, the Jays were already in control, up 5-0. Toronto caught a break in the last of the sixth thanks to a huge error by Joe Crede at third base. With the Jays up 2-0, bases loaded and two outs, Crede bobbled Aaron Hill's bouncer, allowing a run to score. Wells promptly singled in two more runs to give Litsch a five-run cushion. It was the second straight game in which a Crede miscue gave the Jays the runs that made the difference. On Friday night, Crede's error in the first inning set up the entire offense of the game as Toronto won 2-0 behind an ailing Marcum, the Jays' second straight shutout win.Meanwhile, the starting pitching for the Jays has been solid, especially in the last seven games. However, thanks to a weak offense, Toronto actually lost three of those contests, including back-to-back ninth-inning losses to the Boston Red Sox at FenwayPark earlier in the week.Still, if Litsch and the rest of the Toronto starters continue pitching well, the Blue Jays could probably be players in the AL wild card race. For now, Toronto is 3-0 this month. Will the Jays' success continue?Meanwhile, two big errors for Crede as the White Sox have now lost seven of 10, and four in a row. Will Chicago break out of its funk?. The warning signs are all there.Hawk Harrelson's moody silence and repeated calls of “Dadgummit!” have you worried.  DJ is looking for something, anything, to point out as a positive.Jay Mariotti is smiling in his sleep, and every Cubs fan you know is literally singing the praises of Kosuke Fukudome on your answering machine. One week ago, the White Sox looked set up to compete for the summer.  The weather had been lousy, but the Sox were sitting in first place after splitting the six games over the last full week of April. Gavin Floyd looks almost unhittable these days, Jose Contreras and Javier “VazKKKKez” (Man, I love Nick Swisher's dance on that commercial) are solid, and John Danks is giving the best that a fifth starter can give. Even Mark Buerhle is making a comeback from last year's dreadful campaign. The defense was great the first few weeks of the year, but now Crede has six errors.  Swisher did a great job filling in at first yesterday night, but the Sox as a whole have to keep potential runs off base and limit extra bases to singles.3: The young guns.  Carlos Quentin looks like a young Alex Rodriguez at this point in the season: with nine home runs and an average close to .300, he's a spark for the Sox.  Moving him up to the second spot and giving Orlando Cabrera a chance to figure it out in the seven hole might not be a bad idea.Brian Anderson also needs to take advantage of his opportunities. The Sox have been waiting three years for him to reach his potential, and he needs to make every at-bat count.  He was the hero a week ago at home against the Orioles, but more extra base hits and stolen bases would give Anderson a solid footing with the big club.Momentum is a word tossed around by all the experts and writers in sports.  Momentum, they say, can carry a team through the summer and right into the fall.  The funny thing is, momentum can come in a variety of ways: the manager getting tossed, the ball bouncing on the right side of the chalk, a baserunner beating out an infield single.  Anything can turn around a skid.  We fans are just waiting for that anything, and I guarantee it will come.
