Bobby Cox is lucky to be a Brave. It is as simple as that. Managers today come and go at an incredible rate. It seems that for most team owners and presidents, just making the playoffs is no longer acceptable. Baseball is a cutthroat business and most owners have a “what have you done for me lately” attitude. Joe Torre won plenty of championships with the Yankees, but after a couple of years without a World Series, he received the boot. Joe Girardi won the Manager of the Year award and then was quickly canned by the Marlins. What is the deal here? Last time I checked, only one team can win the World Series each year. If Mr. Who would a team find that is better than Cox?My advice to owners everywhere is, remember that there are thirty teams and none of them are trying to lose. Only one team can win it all each year and not winning the World Series every year is NOT a sign of bad coaching. Unless you have hard evidence that your coach is trying to lose games, then maybe try keeping the same head coach for more than a couple of years at a time. What does it take to secure your spot as a skipper in the Major Leagues? The answer is simple; have an owner with just a drop of common sense….
ROGER CLEMENSU.S. Olympic baseball team General Manager Bob Watson said Wednesday that Roger Clemens will not be invited to play for his squad this summer in Beijing. “From my standpoint, we don’t need that type of distraction,” said Watson.Clemens, a seven-time Cy Young Award winner who is a serial philanderer and rumored abuser of steroids, should vanish like a plane in the Bermuda Triangle before his ailing reputation is desecrated any further. But, common sense will not prevail and the public should not expect a secluded Rocket. Under the guidance of his semi-retarded lawyer, Rusty Hardin, the fat-Texan is poised to become one of the biggest jokes the sports world has witnessed since Tonya Harding and/or the cunnilingus-loving cheerleaders of the Carolina Panthers, Renee Thomas and Angela Ellen Keathley.
Unfortunately for Clemens, Americans generally don’t “misremember” national disgraces.CEDRIC BENSONChicago Bears running back Cedric Benson was arrested in Austin,Texas last week for allegedly operating a boat while he was intoxicated and subsequently resisting arrest.Sergeant Leonard Snyder arrested the former University of Texas star and he wrote in his report that he thought Benson was intoxicated because he was “combative,” “cocky,” “insulting,” and “profane” and at other times he was “crying” and “cooperative.” Unless you witnessed the incident, the only people who truly know what occurred that night are Benson and Snyder. Nevertheless, if the official police report holds even a granule of accuracy, Benson should be considered for the role of Sybil should a producer ever decide to create a remake of the 1976 drama film.PITTSBURGH PENGUINSThe Pittsburgh Penguins and the Philadelphia Flyers will play game one of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight at the Mellon Arena in Pittsburgh. I know as much about the sport of hockey as Paris Hilton knows about abstinence. Pictures andLegendary Pictures` epic action adventure “Clash of the Titans,” being directedby Louis Leterrier (“The Incredible Hulk”). The film stars Sam Worthington(“Terminator Salvation,” the upcoming “Avatar”) and Academy Award® nominees LiamNeeson (“Taken,” “Schindler`s List”) and Ralph Fiennes (the “Harry Potter”films, “The English Patient”).
Many pitchers show emotion as they walk off the mound after a big strike out; which is I repeat, is not a bad thing.Click here for pictures of other pitchers doing the same. See me blog! This article is also featured on Necessary Roughness. BURBANK, Calif.–(Business Wire)–Principal photography will begin on April 27 on Warner Bros. Sometimes this celebration is a way to let their energy out and keep them motivated for the next play or next pitch.Moving on, this backlash against Joba seems unfair because this is not a new fad that he has started. Even if you are the Washington Nationals! In a walk-off hit, the team has won, and they have every reason to celebrate. For a pitcher, and even more so for a relief pitcher, an inning-ending strike out is a win for him.
